It was made by Nintendo’s Entertainment Planning & Development (EPD) division, specifically Production Group Number 3. The director of Breath of the Wild, Hidemaro Fujibayashi, and the producer of Breath of the Wild, Eiji Aonuma, also worked on this game.
At E3 2019, a sneak peek was shown, and the full reveal will happen at E3 2021. Tears of the Kingdom was supposed to come out in 2022, but it was pushed back to May 2023. It was praised for its improvements, its larger open world, and the ways it encouraged players to explore and try new things. In its first three days on the market, it sold more than 10 million copies.
