Apple has added a sleep mode to its Screen Time tool to reduce distractions on smartphones. Google’s version of Screen Time, dubbed Digital Wellbeing, actually predates Apple’s, but a recent update finally brings up sleep mode. The new Bedtime mode is largely a reworking of the old “Wind Down” feature in Digital Wellbeing, but it’s pretty analogous to the iPhone feature of the same name. When bedtime is over, your phone will disable notifications and even turn the screen to black and white to help you disconnect. Digital Wellbeing is a component of Android, but updated as a standalone app. Google, Asus, Sony and a few others include the unmodified version on their phones but Samsung and OnePlus don’t (although you can try sideloading it).
Google has now added sleep mode to the clock app of almost every Android device. Users can track their sleep schedule, wake up up and fall asleep at a set time and limit your digital exposure. Google started releasing the feature for Android 6.0+ users as of August 11, 2020. Bedtime mode, formerly known as Wind Down in Digital Wellbeing settings, allows your Android phone to be dark and quiet while you sleep. While sleep mode is on, it uses Do Not Disturb to silence calls, text messages and other notifications that can disturb your sleep.
