Guide: Using Virtual Background in Google Meet – Guide
The use of video calling is increasing. Almost all businesses and companies around the world are switching to video calling tools such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet to conduct digital meetings and meetings. Google Meet is the new entrant, and the search giant recently made Google Meet free for everyone. While it’s not necessary to download and install an app on your computer, you can use virtual backgrounds to make your surroundings look a little different from the rest of the attendees. While it’s simple, Google Meet lacks several video calling functions such as screen recording, background blur, virtual background, whiteboard and more.
Do up for some of them, you can use Google Meet extensions for Chrome. Using virtual backgrounds during meetings can be an important distinguishing factor that can portray your personality differently. I don’t prefer participants spying and noticing random things in my background during video calls. Google has promised to bring background blurring soon. In the meantime, if you want to use virtual funds, there are a few solutions. In this post, let’s guide about the two best ways to use a virtual background on Google Meets. Let’s start.
Use virtual backgrounds for the Google Meet extension
As I mentioned earlier, you can use Chrome Online Store Extensions to enhance your Google Meet experience. To add virtual backgrounds when calling Google Meet, we will use the Virtual Background extension. Follow the steps below to activate the feature on Google Meet.
The extension will offer several backgrounds ready to use during meetings. Tap the one that interests you and you’ll see a live virtual background during Google Meet meetings.
The experience is far from perfect – check the image above. If you move your face too much, you’ll notice that the video background distorts the video display during a meeting.
use the snapshot camera
Photograph Camera is a free desktop app that brings the fun of lenses to your computer. You can use it without a Snapchat account or login. Photograph Camera works as an add-on to all video calling apps. Follow the steps below to use Snap Camera to change the background on Google Meet.
From now on, every time you start video calling on Google Meet, it will switch to Snap camera as the default video stream and uses the selected lens to change the background. You always come back to Instant Camera and select a different lens to change the style and background.
Google Meet allows you to share screens with attendees. It is essential to present the current screen and discuss the subject in detail. Before starting a meeting, you can press the Present Now button button in the lower right corner and select one of the two options: share the entire screen or the application window.
The full screen option will share the current screen with the participants. A window option will let you choose between currently open windows on PC or Mac. Google Meet screen sharing doesn’t have many features compared to Microsoft Teams and Zoom. For example, there is no whiteboard function. Also, you cannot scribble on the screen when sharing screens. I would like to see Google Drive integration to share files from the cloud service.
Hide your background on Google Meet
Google Meet has the basics. But at the same time, it lacks some features such as virtual background, blurred background, whiteboard, etc. As for the virtual background, you can use the Chrome or Snap extension Camera to add style during video calls. For the rest, we will have to wait for future updates.
