One of the best things about a good Apple Watch is that it works well with your iPhone. This means that any apps on your phone that are compatible with Apple Watch will show up on the device as soon as you set it up. If you’re new to the Apple Watch, one of the first things you might want to know is how to Find and Install Apple Watch Apps.
The apps for watchOS don’t work the way you’d think they would. In fact, the apps are extensions of the ones you put on your iPhone. Here’s how to find apps, install them, remove them, move them around, and manage them on your Apple Watch. This includes apps for checking the weather, banking, controlling a smart home, and more.
This also includes regular Apple apps like Podcasts and Music, as well as Apple Watch-specific apps like ECG, blood oxygen, heart rate, and workouts, which come preloaded or can be downloaded from the Health app. But you can also get apps for the Watch from the Apple Watch App Store that you might not have on your phone.

How to add apps to Apple Watch through your iPhone
The Apple Watch automatically gets new apps that you buy on the iPhone, just like the iPhone automatically gets new apps that you buy on the Apple Watch. When you get a new iOS app that has an Apple Watch version, that version is automatically installed.
You probably won’t buy as many apps for your Apple Watch as you do for your iPhone. But you might buy a lot of iPhone apps, and if only half of them have Apple Watch versions, that could be a problem. For example, it’s already hard to find apps on the Watch’s honeycomb home page.
- Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone
- Under the My Watch tab, tap on General
- Tap Automatic App Install to Off
Thereafter, you must positively choose which apps you want to have available to you on your Apple Watch.
- Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone
- Under the My Watch tab, scroll far down
- Check under Available Apps for one you want
- Tap the Install button next to its name
