Asus’ ROG Strix Scar review unit is in the center of the pack for configurations, which is typical of high-end gaming laptops. Internals include the latest Intel Core i9 12900H, the above-average RTX 3070 Ti graphics card, and 32GB of fast DDR5 RAM. Each drives a fast 240Hz 1440p display. This model lacks a webcam, so keep looking. Its asymmetrical livery, large, scary RGB glowing logo, and semi-translucent keyboard deck make the Scar a gaming laptop.
As expected, our evaluation device is in the top range of gaming laptop technology at $2500 retail. Scar dimensions aren’t understated. It’s one of the biggest and heaviest 15-inch gaming machines at nearly an inch thick and five pounds. That trade-off gives it a large cooling system (with exhaust on three sides!), seven RGB lighting zones on the keyboard, bassy speakers, and the greatest hardware on the market.

Where to get ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 (2022)?
This is where the Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 2022 falters. No webcam is built into the laptop’s chassis or lid. You miss Windows Hello and other important features. The smartphone lacks any other biometric technology to speed up logins. Asus includes a top-bezel-mounted ROG Eye Clip Webcam. This is a cool approach to be safe, but some people may not like it. Since avid gamers may use this laptop for streaming and want a quality camera, I can see what Asus developers were thinking.
After COVID-19, a webcam is vital, thus we can’t defend the Strix Scar 15’s lack of one. Although not as spectacular as an OLED panel, the display is impressive. An IPS panel with a refresh rate of 240Hz was used in our test unit. If you reduce the resolution to 1080p, you can run the display at 300Hz. Also, the 4mm thin bezels around the display enhance immersion. The Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 boasts a 2.5 GHz 12th Gen Intel Core i9-12900H processor that accelerates to 5.0 GHz. The 14-core processor includes 24M Cache and 6 Performance and 8 Efficiency cores.
