How to Disable Growl Notifications: Growl is a desktop notification system that lets programmes send information and updates to your desktop in the form of floating windows. This lets you see things like updates, new information, and changes in the status of the app that sent the Growl notification.
The good thing about Growl is that you can see the published status update no matter what app is in focus. This is also a drawback, because there are times when you are using an app and you don’t want updates from another app to print to your desktop. Growl updates are especially annoying to me when I’m using a Mac with a small screen. When screen space is limited, any extra clutter can really get in the way.

To stop receiving these notifications in Mac OS:

What is Growl Notification?
In the top right corner of the screen, growl alerts show up. When something changes in your Dropbox, like when you add a new file or make a change to a shared folder, a Growl message will show up. if you don’t already have Growl on your Mac when you install Dropbox. You will still get notifications because Dropbox has its own system for that. Both Windows and Linux versions of Dropbox have built-in systems for sending notifications that are similar to each other.
