The Razer BlackShark V2 X is the Razer BlackShark V2’s simpler, cheaper brother. Even though these wired headphones don’t have a lot of features like companion software or a USB sound card, they still provide a good audio experience for gaming.
They are comfortable enough to use for long gaming sessions, they can be used with wires on most consoles, and their boom microphone does a great job of picking up your voice even in loud places. Even though we don’t test it yet, these headphones also have a feature that lets you download a virtual soundstage. Still, the bass and treble aren’t always the same, and some parts, like the metal hinges and audio cables on the ear cups, feel a little bit flimsy.
[content-egg-block template=offers_logo hide=price]Razer used high-quality materials to make a high-quality product, and the headset is a great example. Even the seams along the headband where it is stitched are perfect, which is great. It’s just amazing for the memory foam.
The part of the ear cups that touch your skin is made of a very soft, breathable material. Razer used a material that looks like fake leather for the outside. Even though they are made of fake leather, the ear cups look great. Plus, you’ll have a comfortable headset that won’t make your ears sweat or itch like leather ear cups do.
We used it for hours straight without getting tired. It works great, especially if you use it for work or spend a long time in a raid. The ear cups fit snugly over your ears and are easy to put on. The pads are also very breathable, which makes them less sweaty and stuffy for the person who wears them.
The left earbud has a volume knob, which makes it easier to change the volume. You’ll also find the button to mute the mic here. Remember that the mic is fixed and that you can’t change the angle it’s at. But if you need to, you can easily bend the mic up and out of the way.
Razer’s HyperClear Cardioid is the microphone that comes with the BlackShack V2 X. Because it is cardioid, it tries to only pick up sounds in front of it. With the pop filter, it’s hard to tell where the front is, but I found that the mic picked up my lower voice pretty well overall.
The voice I recorded sounded a little more nasal than when I used my more expensive headsets, and it was also a little quieter. Of course, the quality of the mic wasn’t as good as on my Audio-Technica AT2020 desktop mic. But compared to other headset mics in this price range, the BlackShark V2 X’s mic is good.
