The MSI Raider GE77 HX 12UHS is made for people who like to play games and make things. So, our configuration has the latest and most powerful hardware: a Core i9-12900HX CPU, a GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Laptop GPU, 64 GB of RAM, and a 4K screen (17.3-inch). Our model costs about 5,200 USD. We just wrote about the 15.6-inch version of the MSI Raider GE66 12UHS. The Alienware x17 R2 P48E, the Medion Erazer Beast X30, and the Razer Blade 17 are all expensive laptops that are just as powerful (Early 2022).
The MSI Raider GE77 is definitely an old-school gaming laptop. On the front of the aluminium chassis, there is a bar of glowing RGB LEDs. Around the back, there are big air vents, a thick hinge, and a bright MSI Dragon logo that looks like it was made out of chrome. The GE77’s design might not be as mature-looking as its competitors, which could cause some people to dislike it.
[content-egg-block template=offers_logo hide=price]The Alienware x17 R2 is made of black and white magnesium alloy and has a ring of back lighting. It’s just as eye-catching as the MSI but looks more modern. On the other end of the spectrum is the Razer Blade 17, which is all black and a lot less flashy. The ports are spread out well around the edges of the MSI.
The only USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A and Type-C ports are on the left, and there are two more full-size USB ports and an SD card slot on the right. Along the back edge is a Thunderbolt 4 connector that can handle 40Gbps data transfers, DisplayPort signals, and 5V/3A charging, which can also be done through the USB-C port.
A 2.5Gb Ethernet port and an HDMI 2.1 output on the back make playing 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz games on external displays easy. Dual-band Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 are used for connectivity on the inside. Biometric login is the only thing that’s missing that’s worth mentioning. The 1080p webcam doesn’t work with Windows Hello and has no fingerprint reader.
At least the MSI’s huge weight isn’t for nothing when you look at what’s inside. The RTX 3080 Ti has 16GB of dedicated memory and a 175W power level that pushes the limits of what Nvidia can do with electricity. The Intel Core i9-12900HX, on the other hand, is a monster with 16 cores and a top speed of 5GHz.
Most top games have enough power to output to a 4K display, and Rainbow Six Siege’s average of 348fps means it’ll blow away any esports game, whether it’s on the laptop’s 240Hz screen or an external 360Hz screen.
